The Freebord 5X is the future of snowboarding the streets. Our team has engineered a truck system that carves and slides just like a snowboard. The new geometry gives riders a wider turning radius than the original design. If you ready to hold an edge these trucks are made for you.

Adjustability

The Freebord 5 is the definition of progression. This design features a traditional kingpin for maximum stability. We are proud to introduce the super-sized bushings for a reliable return to center. Implementing the same geometry since 1998 these trucks are built to last.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT
SETUP

Independent Suspension

Each hanger arm is now capable of compressing independently from the others. The new system helps dampen vibrations and absorb impact to create a smoother feeling ride.

Traditional Kingpin

The traditional kingpin provides maximum response and edge power.  The angle of the kingpin and compression of the bushings limit the turning radius.

New Geometry

To capture the feeling of surfing powder we decided to implement a wider turning radius. With these trucks you can really dig your edge in and make deep carves.

Standard Geometry

Sticking with the classic geometry that’s been used for each generation of Freebord trucks. These hangers include a 3˚ bend to maximize contact surface of edge wheels.

Springs

The hanger arms are spring loaded. Featuring the EZ-blocks to swap out springs with ease. Getting started has never been easier or more convenient. Upgrades include soft/hard springs.

Wider turning

Introducing a whole new range of motion. We wanted to expand the possibilities and increase the turning radius so riders can make super wide carves and really dig that edge into the ground.

Standard turning

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. We had no intention of throwing away our bread and butter. The standard turning radius on a Freebord has become second nature for existing riders. Consider these trucks the equivalent of driving a manual car.

Easier to learn

These trucks were designed to ease the learning curve. The compression of springs provide more movement which helps beginners conceptualize edge control.

Barrier to entry

Polyurethane bushings provide a stable and stiff response. The limitations of the traditional kingpin makes this style of truck suitable for riding sidewalks and narrow roads.

LESS ROCKER

In this case less is more. These trucks have less rocker the board is standing still. When pressure is applied to the springs, the compression increases the relative height of the opposing edge, thus an exponential increase of rocker.

MORE ROCKER

The amount of rocker on the traditional kingpin is determined by the height of the center wheel and size of edge wheels. When applying weight onto an edge the amount of rocker on the opposite edge does not change.

EVERYWHERE

These trucks are incredibly fun to carve. Riders can now pump carve and build speed on mellow sections of a hill. The super wide turning radius is most enjoyable on roads that you can carve back and forth. These trucks enable riders to really lean into hairpin turns and even gain speed.

ANYWHERE

The traditional kingpin has been the gold standard for navigating insanely steep roads. The possibilities are endless once you master the ability to control speed. These trucks have been known to destroy sidewalks in suburban neighborhoods.

CHOOSING THE CORRECT
DECK SIZE

Freebord decks come in 77 , 82, and 87 cm lengths. While some riders prefer a wider stance and others prefer a narrow stance, a rider’s height is the best indicator of how wide your stance will be. Choosing the correct deck size is extremely important because it determines your stance width – or how far apart your bindings will be.

So, what do all these measurements mean?

Freebord decks follow the same industry standard sizing method as snowboards. Here’s a breakdown of each measurement:

The length of our boards are measured in centimeters.

The stance width is measured from the middle of each of the bindings.

The width is measured at the widest section of the deck.

What size should I get then?

Examples

If you are 1,60 meters you would ride a 77cm deck.  Pretty easy huh? Let’s try another, you’re around 1,75 meters so you ride an 82cm deck.

Okay, fairly straightforward, now say you’re 1,82 meters, uh oh, looks like you have to make a decision between an 82 or 87cm deck.  This is when all of those other measurements come in extremely handy, consider the following:

If you’re 1,82 meters technically both boards could fit you, but it really comes down to preference on the width of your stance and the width of the deck.

Some people enjoy a larger stance due to the extra stability a larger deck gives you. Again, this is all preference, so if you have had experience with any board sports in the past, you may prefer one over the other, but in the end either board should work for you.

* If you have large feet (size 45+ EU mens), we recommend considering the 87 or the 82cm deck due to the larger width – it helps with limiting wheel-bite.
