Hey riders (and future riders)!
I’m Quentin, 29 years old, Freeborder for over a decade now — and today I want to share with you three videos that left a mark on me, and that you absolutely need to watch if you’re into this crazy sport we call Freebord.
Let’s be real: the vibes, the spots, the style… These videos just make you wanna grab your board and shred the nearest hill. We’re kicking things off with a true legendary throwback, straight from San Francisco.
1. Freebord Ride Explained (2007)
👥 Featuring: Mike Hoppe, Justin Oliver, and Stee Strand (the inventor of the board)
📍 Location: San Francisco, USA
This one’s a cult classic. We’re back in 2007, and this video almost feels like a documentary. It gives you an inside look at the early days of Freebord in the U.S., with legends like Mike Hoppe, Justin Oliver, and of course, Steen Strand, the guy who literally invented the board we ride today.
Filmed in San Francisco — the mecca of Freebord — with its steep hills and raw energy, it breaks down how the board works and how it brings that snowboard-on-pavement feeling to life. Long story short: this is essential viewing to understand where our sport comes from.
2. CHoE’s First Rides of the Season – French Alps (2012)
🎥 Filmed & edited by Arnaud Blin
👥 Riders: Ben, Nico Jon, Rems, Julien & Simon
📍 Location: Belledonne, French Alps
Now we’re heading into the French Alps for a classic from the CHoE crew — some of the most iconic Freeborders in France. This video captures the start of their 2012 season, shot by Arnaud Blin, and honestly, it’s just beautiful.
Twisty alpine roads, laid-back vibes, and a raw, old-school style that’s full of passion. You can really feel that these guys are all about the ride and the fun. It’s one of those edits that make you wanna call up your crew and hit the road.
3. Alpine Road Trip – Stelvio & Beyond (Europe)
🎥 Once again behind the lens: Arnaud Blin
👥 Riders from Switzerland, Spain, Germany, and France
📍 Location: The European Alps, including the legendary Stelvio Pass, Italy
This one’s on a whole other level — a pan-European Freebord road trip with riders from all over: Switzerland, Spain, Germany, and France. They hit some of the most epic mountain roads, including the iconic Stelvio Pass in Italy. Yeah, that one with the insane switchbacks and postcard-worthy views.
It’s part travel adventure, part ride edit, and full-on community vibes. You can feel the passion, the excitement, and the love for the sport. Once again, Arnaud Blin nailed the filming and editing, giving this video a cinematic touch while keeping it super authentic.
